A community of support for new mothers

More than 1,200 babies are born annually at Aurora Medical Center Grafton. Karley Hass knows how it feels to be one of those new moms and has found a creative way to give back.

“Having my son at Aurora Medical Center Grafton in November of 2016 really gave me an appreciation for the facility," Karley shared. "It also gave me an understanding of how much a new mother goes through in those 48+ hours. Having experienced that, I thought it may be nice to donate some items a new mother may find herself needing— lip balm, water, paper, pen, hair tie, Kleenex, lotion, nail file, hard candy, or gum for example. These items were all placed into a zipper pouch with a bicycle on it and a note was put in each package with, 'Oh the places you'll go, today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so...get on your way!' When I drop them off, I always remember it feels good to give back, to find a way to help within your community and know that it will be appreciated, whether big or small.

“With the extra income from being an Independent Consultant of Thirty-One Gifts, I make it a point every year to make one large donation to a cause I feel strongly about. I do this with the help of my family, friends, and customers.”
