In early 2016, Aurora Medical Center in Manitowoc County opened its own Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program. Then, in just the first nine months of the year, the hospital's emergency department saw a fivefold increase in adults treated for sexual assault alone.
This year's Live Well Manitowoc County will benefit Aurora Medical Center of Manitowoc County’s Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program (S.A.N.E.) by funding a more peaceful and private room for those going through emergency testing and treatment. In addition, the funds raised will ensure community agencies and nursing staff will receive needed education and on-going training.
The event will feature a farm-to-fork dinner, interactive Live Well learning and sampling stations and wonderful silent auction packages.
By raising awareness and educating our community it is our hope that victims of sexual assault come forward for the medical care and services they deserve. For more information, contact Rachel Rupnik at 920-794-5284.
